5 Reasons to Adopt! Not Shop!

Have you ever borrowed an old book at the library? I bet the story was so interesting that you didn’t even notice how tattered and torn the old book was! You were only interested in the contents of it.

What if I told you that the same concept applies for other things too?

For example, adopting dogs rather than buying them.

There are approximately 900 million dogs on this planet. Many of them are in animal shelters because pet owners do not want them anymore or they are strays living on the streets.

If you would like a pet dog, then you can make a difference by adopting and not shopping!

Here are 5 reasons why…

Reason No. 1:

You are a LIFESAVER!

Millions of dogs in shelters around the world are euthanised (put to sleep forever in a non-painful manner) every year when no one comes forward to adopt them. By adopting from animal-shelters, you give a fur-friend a family and save it from being put down.

Reason No. 2:

You are COOL!

Yes we said it. You’re cool when you adopt.

You lead by example and make an impression by encouraging others to adopt too.

Spread the love because you cool like that!

Reason No. 3:

You are a SMART SAVER!

Most animal shelters give all of their animals the needed vaccinations. This saves you a lot of money because your dog is coming to you with a clean bill of health.

Important note to self: Dogs help improve our physical and emotional well-being.

 Now that’s priceless.

Reason No. 4:

You are a FIGHTER!

Yes! And you can put up a great and worthy fight when you stop pet shopping. The money spent to buy dogs from pet shops directly helps boast puppy mill businesses.

Getting dogs from animal shelters, will show puppy mill owners that you mean business because you DO NOT want to support them.

Reason No. 5:

You are a TRENDSETTER!

You help reduce overpopulation in animal shelters by adopting.

Adoption decreases the demand for ‘new dogs’, such as puppies.

Animal shelters will have more room for other homeless animals when the current residents find new homes.

Psstt… you would be surprised to see many of these dogs are purebreeds if you’re intending to get a particular one. And they are in great health!

So set the trend, attract the followers.

Be all of these and more when you ADOPT and NOT SHOP.

The next time you feel like you want to get a dog, make your way down to an animal shelter and speak to the people there. There is always a fur-friend for everyone.

And while you’re there, take a picture and #AnimalFunFacts.

It’s always fun to learn more!

Remember - it’s all animals, all the time!
